A "Sore" Dream

I have fallen into the scheme of the "taggers" and the "tagged" in doing this 55 word short story; actually this is much more than 55 words.

2075 AD.

Chennai has displaced New York as the financial capital of the world and controls more than 20% of the financial transactions of world. As a result of this shift in power, the mayor of Chennai is the most powerful and prestigous seat in the world. Infact the previous mayor Mr. Narsihman became the richest man in the world during his tenure. But the elections to the post are fiercely contested by ivy league educated economists. Ever since he was 15 years old T. Arasan had dreamt about rising to the post. 17 years later with a Phd in economics from Havard, Dr. Arasan finally succeeded in achieving his lifetime ambition.

After winning the election, Dr. Arasan lay on the bed unable to sleep because of the excitment. He reflected on all the hardships that he faced before reaching this position - he had gone from someone who lived with 5 brothers and sisters in 1 bedroom apartment to becoming the CEO fo Chennai. The next day morning, when he got up, the whole sequence felt like a dream. But he didnt have to pinch himself to convince himself of the reality; he knew he had got Chenn-eye. The severe irration and swelling in his eyes where surely symptoms of conjuctivitis, popularly know as "Madras-eye".
