Scene 1: (Local grocery store, South Pasadena)
I am beaten to the checkout line by a 70 yr old woman. The woman has a cart full of groceries and starts unloading it at her own pace. I start thinking,
"Getting stuck behind old ladies at the grocery store is the most annoying thing. They take their own sweet time to bend down and load the stuff on the conveyor. When it's time to pay, they take out a newspaper full of 25c coupons and spend 10 minutes to save 1$. To top it all, it takes them 5 additional minutes to rifle through their purse and get hold of their chequebook.....and then their pen wont write.....urghhh"
But my train of thought is derailed as this lady looks back at me and the 3 items in my hand that I am waiting to check out, and asks me to move ahead of her. I refuse, but after some persuasion from the old lady, I relent. I am done with the check out even before the lady empties her cart completely and I leave the store thanking the lady profusely for her thoughtfulness.
Scene 2: (I-5 North near downtown Los Angeles)
Traffic moving at 10 mph, and I am driving by the side of some 18 wheelers and SUVs. I desperately need to change lanes, but there is no gap in sight. I give an indicator and decide to wait. But the minute I flash the indicator, a red minivan on the other lane stops dead and allows me to roll into his lane. I look at my rear view mirror and acknowledge his good deed by waving.
Two simple acts by two strangers, left me in a better mood than normal. It didn't take much effort for the two strangers; probably they lost 25 seconds of their daily quota of 86,400s. Miniscule as these events may seem, they surely lifted the spirits of everyone involved in them. Only if all of us could spend a few seconds of our daily life to indulge in simple acts like these, then world will surely be a merrier place.......

Ur reaction at that lady is something quite expected coming from you but so is the realisation at ur thoughtlessness at that moment and ur ability to stic ur neck out and acknowledge ur mistake :) . Very few ppl have that ability, really enjoyed this post, reminded me of the time when u wrote stuff like 'ROMM - The selfish Altruist !'.
I went to the grocery store straight from my 6 mile hike on Sat morn...the lady must have possessed some telepathic powers to read my thoughts and act so considerately...
I guess i would have helped the lady unload her stuff. Or may be i would have just gone to fast checkout lane if i only had a few items :).
But my train of thought is derailed as this lady looks back at me and the 3 items in my hand that I am waiting to check out, and asks me to move ahead of her May be at this point she heard your thoughts. The deep sighing, exasperated looks towards heaven, grunts when she pulled out her coupons, sniggering snickers when she searched for her card.
Pointy, don't take the comments to much to heart.Their sole purpose is to pain you :) and i hope they fulfill them
yeah u find very few nice people especialy on the road its next ot impossible...... U r lucky that wht i can say
Machaan, kinda laughed thinking about both the incidents in the Indian context :))
Scene 1: Lady says: Wotta "saavu girakki"(messenger of death in english), "poi waangi thole", (go to hell)
Scene 2: A honk from the back and a shout,, "wotta ootu le sollittu vandhutteya??" (which means, did u inform back at home about your d#$%h)
both the phrases are typical tam phrases uses often under such scenarios...
Anyways nice post from the SATAN worshipper, who prolly got a taste of guilt finally... huh!!!
@Totti - Considering that Old people have fewer days to live than us, shouldnt they be hurrying ..
@Viewer - Surprisingly there r lot of nice ppl, it's just that we dont observe and appreciate it...
@Susu - That was funny.....but u know what I helped the other guy increase his "G" count in the second case....
Pointy, don't use Seinfeld dialogues.Your plagiaristic capabilities know no bounds!!
